“Paradise” Premiere Earned 7 Million First Week Streams on Hulu and Disney+
The new series stars Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden.
After Paradise was surprise released on Hulu and Disney+, the series transcended viewership expectations gaining millions of views across its first week.
What’s Happening:
- Variety is reporting that the premiere episode of Hulu’s Paradise has received 7 million views in its first nine days of streaming worldwide.
- Created by Dan Fogelman and starring Sterling K. Brown, Paradise follows Secret Service agent Xavier Collins as a protector to former president Cal Bradford (James Marsden) in a picturesque community. When Bradford is killed, Collins becomes a top suspect in his murder.
- Paradise was initially announced to premiere on January 28th, but Disney surprised audiences by releasing the series on Hulu and Disney+ at 9PM ET on January 26th.
- The initial premiere saw the release of the first three episodes.
- Disney is usually pretty tight lipped about streaming views, which they define as viewership time divided by the episode length.
- Paradise’s premiere episode, titled “Wildcat Is Down," runs just over 48 minutes, meaning the first episode has been viewed for over 336 million minutes.
- In comparison to other big Hulu releases, the first episode of FX’s The Bear season three saw 5.4 million views in its first four days on streaming last June. However, unlike Paradise, all episodes of the season were released at once.
- New episodes of Paradise premiere weekly on Tuesdays.
- While the series initially premiered on streaming services, Paradise held its linear premiere on ABC on January 29th and on FX on February 1st. ABC pulled in 1.4 million addition viewers with FX gaining the series 250,000.
- A huge part of the series’ success comes from Hulu’s TikTok ad campaign, which has drawn more views and shares than any other first-season scripted series for the streamer.
- Paradise is streaming now on Hulu and Disney+.
